Classes will be held throughout spring and fall to help homeowners gain a better understanding of efficient gardening, and landscaping. Classes with two dates will be repeated.

March - Proper Pruning Practices
FREE CLASS: Pruning
Learn the science and art behind pruning. These hands-on-workshops will focus on the proper pruning practices and techniques associated with backyard fruit production as well as other landscape plants. Workshops are free to the public and are offered at the Utah Botanical Center and the Ogden Botanical Gardens.

April - Backyard Bounties - Get Growing!
FREE CLASS: Raised Bed Gardening
Take the toil out of your soil. This class will cover the basics of gardening in raised beds, including nitty-gritty understanding of building materials, soil mixes, fertilizers and of course the how-to's of growing your favorite veggie crops.

WORKSHOP: Fruit Tree Grafting ($35.00 for non-members - $25.00 for members)
Find out how to perpetuate that perfect fruit tree. This hands-on workshop will reveal the techniques behind grafting. Participants will receive two apple trees to take home.

FREE CLASS: Flower Bed Design
Discover the art of design. Dorinda Jones (Garden Manager-the Ogden Botanical Garden) will reveal the secrets in creating astounding annual flower bed displays. Participants will learn for themselves how to use colorful combinations and where to place that perfect plant for pizazz.

WORKSHOP: Creating a Hanging Basket ($35.00 for non-members - $25.00 for members)
Whether the goal is to escape the ramifications of a poorly chosen Mother's Day gift, or you are simply in search of that perfect patio planter, this class is for you. Come get you hands dirty during this hands-on demonstration. Learn the three rules of creating a beautiful basket. Each participant will receive a 14" hanging basket planted and personalized by you.

June - Art in the Garden
A CELEBRATION OF LOCAL ARTISTS:
Our annual event features local artists displaying their art work and craft throughout the garden, local chefs demonstrating their talent and edible creations, and local musicians performing in a serene setting only the Ogden Botanical Gardens can offer. This is a must day to pay us a visit in the Gardens!

FREE CLASS: Creating Water Colors
Stroll through our vibrant gardens and learn from local artist, Lucile Chamberlin, how to create amazing garden art using water colors. This outdoor class will be held in the Rasmussen teaching garden just north of the Utah Botanical Center Greenhouse.

WORKSHOP: Creative Containers ($35.00 for non-members - $25.00 for members)
Tufa troughs are quickly becoming a trendy way of showcasing unique and/or small container plants. Join us for this Do-it-yourself demonstration and learn how to build your own rustic plant container. The only limitation to these creative containers is your imagination. Participants will take home their own container complete with plants.
