Now that the reconstruction of the four ponds and wetlands at the Utah Botanical Center is almost complete, fishing opportunities are once again available. We are continually making improvements to the habitat in the ponds and to the accessibility so that you may have a wonderful fishing experience.
As part of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources’ Urban Fishing Program, the ponds at the Utah Botanical Center are stocked with:
Largemouth Bass - A popular sportfish that feeds on other fish, amphibians, rodents, and large invertebrates, largemouth bass are native to the warm waters of eastern North America.
Bluegill - Another popular non-native warm water sportfish, bluegill feed on smaller fish, insects, zooplankton, and other invertebrates.
Channel Catfish - Native to areas east of the Rocky Mountains, but has been introduced throughout Utah, channel catfish eat just about anything including fish, invertebrates, plant matter, and detritus.
